National Missing Children's Day
This year Monterrey OSAC, in conjunction with the Monterrey Regional Security Office, will request to participate in a worldwide children’s safety initiative led by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The event is scheduled to coincide with National Missing Children’s Day on May 25, 2008.
Last year’s event in Monterrey, co-sponsored by the Federal Law Enforcement Officer’s Association, was a success and resulted in dozens of Consulate kids being fingerprinted and photographed as a safety precaution. This important initiative is intended to help combat the worldwide epidemic of child abductions. This year, the goal will be to expand the event to include American expat kids living in Monterrey whether or not they are associated with OSAC.
Stay tuned for more news regarding this event in the coming weeks. You can read more about this important initiative by visiting http://www.take25.org/
